ABOUT THE ARTIST

Ceann-Daoraich was manifested with the intention to create a new world within the space the sculpture inhibits. The large-scale metal dome embraces the viewer by surrounding them with twisting lines creating an alluring environment. The glass bottles bring a ‘new light’ into the surrounded space capturing the sun’s natural shine from the outside world.

Gillian Harper is a junior at the University of North Florida majoring in Fine Arts with a concentration in sculpture. She finds inspiration in nature, rust, marine biology, astrology, and childhood memories. Her artwork often consists of organic shapes and tangled lines that embody the natural colors from the deterioration of the metal. She is interested in a variety of processes and materials including steel, cast-iron, wood, plaster, photography, textile, and natural found objects.
