Art and Nature Thrive in the Rosens’ Garden and Studio

Josephine Sculpture Park board and staff enjoyed a guided tour of the historic downtown Frankfort home of park supporters Richard and Anna Marie Rosen. Tours included the Rosens’ printmaking studio and abundant floral garden featuring a selection of sculptures.

Richard Rosen is an accredited Hemerocallis (daylily) judgemaster and plantsman with hundreds of varieties of daylilies in his beautifully tended garden. He is also committed to enhancing economic development and quality of life in downtown Frankfort through JSP’s Art in Public Places program. Visit the Frankfort Public Art Tour website for more information.

Anna Marie Pavlik Rosen is an accomplished fine art intaglio printmaker, whose work highlights natural ecosystems. She demonstrated her printmaking processes and equipment.

Here, she displays the 28" x 22" plate of the etching, Madonna. This piece is focused on the need for protecting wildlife from human caused peril. The detail view of this etching (below) is a portion of the dress of the Madonna, which presents hydro, wind, and solar energy as resources to aide in the preservation of North American animals.

The couple’s dedication to creative expression and nature resonates with JSP’s mission of connecting people to each other and the land through the arts. Thanks to the Rosens for offering this unique experience as a live auction item at the record-breaking 2024 Barn Raisin' event, sponsored by Expree Credit Union.
