Sky Chamber by Daniel Shieh, JSP Artist in Residence

Part of Josephine Sculpture Park’s mission is to provide transformational opportunities to artists. This fall, Artist in Residence Daniel Shieh created an ambitious and innovative interactive sculpture. Daniel had wanted to make Sky Chamber a reality for awhile, and credited JSP for giving him the resources to do so.

“It’s really valuable to have a residency like this to experiment in and make this thing come true…I think the amount of time and support really let me get to a point where the piece looks professional.” Daniel shares in his week 6 video. “I truly feel this is one of the first projects that looks really well put together, and there’s nothing missing about it. It lets me set a standard for myself of the level of craft I want to have in my future works.”

Experience Daniel’s process through his weekly reflection videos posted below in chronological order. And please visit Sky Chamber at JSP!
