nARTure Tuesday: Nature Journal & Bursting Buds
It’s 𝗻𝗔𝗥𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 with Josephine Sculpture Park! While our in-person programming is temporarily suspended, every Tuesday by noon, JSP Program Director Jeri K. Howell will feature a simple nature-based art or nature connection activity that you can do with supplies likely already at home or in a nearby outdoor area.
This week, make your own nature journal and explore budding trees! (This activity is adapted from Project Learning Tree.)
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟭: Make your nature journal. Cut a piece of cardboard that is just larger than your journal pages, gather your journal pages (we cut scrap paper in 1/2 for ours), staple them to the cardboard along the top, and decorate your cover!
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟯: Sketch the twig, drawing as much detail as you can. Gently break off 1 bud and use your nail to cut it in half. What do you see? What does it smell like? Sketch & note it! Be sure to write today’s date somewhere for reference!
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟱: Next week, return to your twig, observe how it has changed, and repeat! Feel free to share your photos and observations with JSP every step of the way. Enjoy!
If you appreciate the virtual resources we share, please consider donating online. JSP programs are sponsored in part by Expree Credit Union. Thank you!
