JSP week-long Juneteenth Celebration: River City Drum Corp (KY)

We celebrate Juneteenth this week with the River City Drum Corp (RCDC), based in Louisville, KY! River City Drum Corp Cultural Arts Institute programs are designed to enhance the development of African American families with children through education, arts, and culture. Their purpose is to provide opportunities for families to reconnect to vast historical accomplishments of African- Americans in the building of America and this information as a foundation rebuilding our families and community. Louisville youth from RCDC have performed at the JSP Fall Arts Festival and participated in workshops and partnerships with JSP since 2017.

Focus on Race Relations (FORR) and Josephine Sculpture Park (JSP) partner this week to celebrate Juneteenth, the nationally celebrated commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States. We encourage others to post throughout this week leading up to Juneteenth (June 19) using #juneteenthky. This week, JSP and FORR will elevate black and African American voices and art, share anti-racism resources and discourse, and host a roundtable to discuss local race issues and solutions in Frankfort/Franklin County, KY.
