JSP is free and open 365 days per year from dawn until dusk. You can enjoy the park at your own pace any day, in any way to want. The exhibition spans approximately 20 acres and is hands-on. Several sculptures are created to be climbed upon, but be sure to read the sign at each sculpture to know whether it is “OK to touch” or OK to CLIMB” and please be respectful of all works of art and the land. Adult supervision is required and visitors climb at their own risk.
Our paths are mowed and traverse the landscape to be as accessible as possible by motorized wheel chair. Some paths are not accessible; please contact us prior to your visit if you would like to reserve our golf cart.
Guided “touch tours” are available upon request, please contact us for more information. A $5 donation per person is requested.
EXPLORE365 Self Guided Tours
When: Any day or time, between dawn and dusk, no appointment required.
What: Grab a tour map & sketchbook from the visitor’s center to get started on your own self-guided tour of the 20 acre exhibition at JSP. The map will show you the regions of the park and will identify key sculptures and landmarks in each region to assist you in locating yourself and finding other works. You can explore the entire park or take it 1 region or sculpture at a time. You may also simply explore the park at your own pace, with no map to guide you and rest assured that all paths lead back to the main parking area, so you won’t get lost out there… this allows for a seriously adventurous exploration of the park, sculptures and wildlife habitat.
What else: You may also want to grab an art scavenger hunt worksheet (or print one from the activity page on our site before your visit) to work your way through each region. *Hint – children really enjoy the “hunt” and worksheet guides, they will run all over the park in search of each image, and you can drop the form in our donation box for a chance to win some art supplies from JSP for your emerging artist!
JSP Where Art Meets the Earth Guided Tour
Cost: Minimum 5$ donation per person
When: Contact us to schedule an ECO-ART tour for your group today (minimum of 4 is appreciated). These tours are available 7 days per week but must be scheduled at least 1 week in advance to guarantee day and time preferences. The length of this tour depends somewhat on the size of the group, but generally ranges from 45-60 minutes.
What: Enjoy a guided tour led by JSP Artistic Director, Melanie VanHouten with a focus on selected pieces in the exhibition along with additional information about the land conservation program, native plants and wildlife habitat programs. This tour will also provide you with a great overview of the entire park layout, its history and inside information about the exhibiting artists’ processes.
What else: You can add a workshop to complete this tour for an additional $25 per person (15 people max). Collect natural elements during your tour to construct a nature journal upon tour completion. An informal writing exercise will focus on finding your own connections to the natural world to conclude the workshop. The workshop adds an additional 60 minutes to the tour.
