Mindful Nature Photography Workshop – April 8 from 1-4pm
Age groups: for Teens and Adults
Immerse yourself in the natural world and express the wonders and delights you find there through photography. Don’t let gadgets get in your way! Learn to use your camera as a meditative tool for eliminating distractions and focusing on what is important.
You may want to register for all three workshops (March, April and May) so you can build on the work, ideas and skills you develop each month.
This workshop will provide:
- one-on-one tutoring on how to use your camera effectively
- fun and inspirational nature connection activities
- exploration of the park with technical support nearby
- print making with plant materials
$50 which includes personalized instruction and any additional materials or supplies, such as photo paper for making sunprints, etc. Space is limited, so please register in advance to save your spot!

Supplies & Equipment
Participants may use their own digital camera or borrow a Canon Powershot A800 (digital point-and-shoot). If you use your own camera, please make sure to charge your battery, bring an extra battery, and have available memory on your card. If you have a user’s manual for your camera, please bring it.
Bring snacks and water, and dress for walking in grassy areas. Check the weather forecast and be prepared to be photographing outdoors regardless of the weather. Cancellation due to severe weather will be posted on JSP’s Facebook page and website.
Karen Lanier is a naturalist, photographer, author, and environmental educator. She has led youth photography classes since 2011, and reminds everyone to playfully explore the outdoors with child-like curiosity.
