Join us for an inspiring evening of images and ideas presented by Chakaia Booker, followed by a question and answer session and a reception. This is a free event, open to the public and is supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and in partnership with The Grand Theatre.

Chakaia Booker is a world renowned artist based in New York City. She has art in the permanent collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Akron Museum of Art, The Max Protetch and June Kelly galleries in New York, among others. She has participated in international group and solo exhibitions in such places as the Neuberger Museum of Art, Marlborough Gallery, the Sandler Hudson Gallery in Atlanta, Georgia, and the P.S.I. Contemporary Art Center in Queens, as well as in the “Twentieth Century American Sculpture” exhibition held at the White House in 1996. Booker received the Pollock-Krasner Grant in 2002 and a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2005. She was selected for the 2012-2014 New York Avenue Sculpture Project in D.C., which is the only public art space featuring changing installations of contemporary works by women artists. She most recently served on the board of Directors for the International Sculpture Center.

Chakaia will also be the guest artist at the JSP Fall Arts Festival on Sep. 10. Stop by to participate in her sculpture workshop and to see The Conversationalist installed!

The Grand Theatre is located in historic downtown Frankfort.
